Ascension day happened 40 days after the resurrection. In Acts 1:10-11, Jesus’ Disciples gazed into heaven as Jesus ascended into the sky. The angels promised that just as they saw Him go, in the same way He will return.

As we celebrate the ascension, key issues are very clear to us:
• Jesus will come again in Hebrews 9:28, Jesus’ second coming will not consider those who have persisted in sin.
He will take those who are waiting for Him. Those who wait must cleanse themselves and live righteous lives.
• The second issue is that Jesus assumed His heavenly role as a High Priest. He is interceding for us, He understands our weaknesses and cares about us [Hebrews 4:14-16].
• Ascension grants Jesus a position far above all powers, dominions, rulers [Ephesians 1:20-21]. As believers we have no fear of any force or spiritual attack. At the sound of His name the devil crumbles down.
• Finally, Jesus ascended because He had finished His work on earth. At the cross He said “it is finished”. His salvation for us is complete, our sins were forgiven, we are not condemned because He took our case and became our
advocate.
• As we celebrate this ascension Sunday, may we remember that the one we believe in is highly-exalted and will one day come to take us home. Are you ready?
