Rev. David Serunjoji

I greet you all in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ! Welcome to Children’s Sunday!

Our topic for this Sunday is ‘Caring for the body of Christ.’ The church of Christ in the world has been commissioned by God to impact society.
It’s mandate among others include; taking care of God’s people.

The Church, is the body of believers with Christ as its head. The followship of believers as recorded in Acts 2:42-47 highlights the ingredients of caring and sharing among the believers of the early church.

“And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as they had need” (Acts 2:45) This means that the members of the body of Christ must care for each other.

However, this does not mean that the church should ignore then needs of
others outside the body.
William Temple once stated that “The Church is the only society that exists for the benefit of those who are not its members”. The Church should reach out to all people with the Love of Christ. If it does not do that, it ceases to function as the Church and it becomes irrelevant.

One of the things that I have seen that have impressed me about All Saints’ Cathedral, Kampala over the years is how this Church cares through compassion ministry. For example, this church has paid school fees for many orphans and less privileged members of our community, helping families during a time of illness, standing with each other during the time of grief.

Whenever there has been any need raised, I have seen believers respond.
Praise God we are a family and let us look out for each other.
It is my prayer that we will never loose that. Let us view each other as a family, let us Love and care for each other as the body of Christ in the City of Kampala.

God bless you all.
