The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev. Stanley Ntagali launched the Ugandan chapter of Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion (EFAC) on Wednesday, 18 July 2019 at All Saints’ Cathedral, Kampala.

EFAC-Uganda is mandated to support the Church of Uganda’s commitment to Gafcon through promoting a theological “think tank” to articulate appropriate Biblical responses to moral and theological issues facing Christians today, and through encouraging chaplaincies in all educational institutions and among professionals in their places of work, markets, and trading centres.

Recognizing the strength of the Church of Uganda’s evangelical convictions, Archbishop Ntagali challenged EFAC-Uganda to encourage and support the spread of evangelical Anglicanism throughout the entire Anglican Communion, especially in non-Gafcon Provinces.

“I want to encourage EFAC to support the spread of evangelical Anglicanism throughout the entire Anglican Communion, especially in non-Gafcon Provinces. There is an urgent need for this and such focus may be the most strategic thing you can do to strengthen the Anglican Church in Africa. We in Uganda stand ready to support the spread of the Gospel throughout Africa and the world!”

The Church of Uganda bishops appointed Bishop Henry Katumba Tamale to be the Overseer of EFAC-Uganda and he also delegated Bishop Professor Alfred Olwa to be the chairperson.
