‘ What does it mean to be saved? Is it necessary? Does it have any consequences?’

The Revd. Captain Florence A Tumwesigye posed the above questions when she was presenting a Sermon to the three [3] ASCK Congregations on Sunday 24th February 2019 on the Topic ‘You must be born again’ and focusing on [John 3:1-21 and Ezekiel 36:25-28] correspondingly.

The Preacher pointed out that disregarding the wisdom and knowledge of the Law that Nicodemus had, h e didn’t fail to consult Jesus. Revd. Florence underscored the essence of all Believers to open their eyes and ears to God if we needed to b e born again! The following salient issues were highlighted in the sermon:
i) Being born again requires an Individual to acknowledge that he/she is a sinner and therefore need to repent of his/her sins and accept Jesus Christ’s saving power; [Romans 3:23 & 10:8-11]
ii)  A forgiven sinner therefore becomes a ‘finished product’ – accomplished through a self-evaluation and open heart that dines with God; [Revelations 3:19-20]
iii)  It does not matter how many years you have attended and served the Church, you MUST receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour for eternal connection; [Luke 10:17-20]
iv) New Birth therefore entails change in one’s lifestyle, a process which does not arrive once BUT on going; where Jesus Christ stands out as the transformer and redeemer [John.3.16]. In all this process, Faith and Belief in Jesus becomes the core aspect for concern for our human responsibility;
v) A right choice leads to godly blessings YET a wrong one leads to hell! [Romans 6:22-23]

Guiding Questions and Prayer Moments
1) In your Cell, discuss and allow a few Members to share some practical Testimonies of how they were dead to sin [John. 5:24 compare with Jn.1;12]? What does it mean to be born again?
2) Spend a few Minutes and discuss what the Preacher meant by ‘You Don’t arrive once”[continue to workout your salvation with fear and trembling]. [1 John 1:8- 10].
3)  Have a moment of Quiet and Reflection on 2Peter 3:8-15]: Seek God’s Direction and Deliverance on the Way to eternity.
