May the name of the lord be praised! The previous Sunday, Dr. Kedrace Turyagenda preached to the three [3] ASC congregations on the topic: Consequences of forsaking God and drawing Bib- lical references from Isaiah 1:27-31 and John 15:1-6. She referred the synonym ‘to forsake’ means to: abandon, reject. Disown, quit, turn your back on something; it doesn’t happen suddenly but it’s an outcome of the decision that one makes and therefore has a consequence. Once a decision/ Choice has been made, the consequences are either good or bad [John 3:16].

God expects us to be obedient to him since he created us in His own image and when we dont, it affects our relatioship with Him hence we face dare consequences. She mentioned some of the ways how we forsake God today and the consequences that arise from it;

  • Worshiping of idols and man-made items such as pictures, cars, houses, jewelry, drugs, smart phones, alcohol, among others; for these enslave and lead you to suffer God’s wrath and face judgment. [Jeremiah 1:16]
  • Rejecting God as King, He too rejects you resulting into a broken relationship with man and at times this leads to death. [1Samuel 8:7-8]
  • Refusing to seek God, He too forsakes us and without him we are nothing. [2 Chronicles 15:2]
  • Doing evil deeds, this brings forth curses upon you, confusion, frustration and the next generation is cursed. [Deuteronomy 28:20]
  • Backsliding (going back to the old sinful nature/practices) for this brings forth shame and ridicule upon you. [Jeremiah 15:6]
  • Being rebellious against God, our spouses, parents and leaders, one may end up perishing. [ Isaiah 1:28]
  • Turning away from God; results into loosing eternal joy as a Christian. God ‘s presence also departs from you. [Jeremiah 17:13]Dr. Kedrace pointed out key resolultions; Having forsaken God, what should we do?Repent and be forgiven, renounce publically, surrender totally and learn to trust in the Lord always and remain in Him. [Ref: – Acts 1:37-38, Joshua 24:16, Proverbs 3:5-6]Guiding Questions and Prayer Items
