Praise God brethren! Last Sunday we shared on Understanding the Tithe drawn from Deut 12:5-6, Matt. 6:1-4 and Mal 3:6-12. The tithe was an offering in the Old testament of one’s agricultural income to the Lord as an expression of thanks and dedication (Lev. 27:30-34), It is holy and set apart as belonging to God. A tithe is a trust that establishes a  relationship between the giver and God. It shows that we are good managers or stewards not owners. For those who wanted to redeem or give what they missed an extra fifth would be added and always given in form of money. That means 10% in produce and 12% in cash. The following are pertinent lessons for one to understand tithe.
• The Preacher emphasized that Tithe is also the first expenditure offered to the Lord from your earnings, the bottom line is a tenth but you can tithe more than a tenth as led by the Spirit and this as well results into great blessings from the Lord.
• Benefits of tithing include; being made into a great nation, extension of our boundaries/ tents, protection from the devourer and battles, not being robbers and not to be cursed.
• Giving tithe is a command and a regular possession of the Lord so that we may learn to fear Him.
• As Christians you ought to pay tithe from your total take home of your salary.
• You shouldn’t tithe from your business capital but rather from your Profit.
• Don’t tithe on loans, one’s money kept with you, never tithe a bruised or lame animal.
• Bring a full tithe into his store house; therefore, desist from bringing tithe in partiality.
• Tithe where you worship since you are accountable to your Church.
• When you tithe, God will open the flood gates of heaven and He will hear your requests.
• Tithing is an act of our worship out of love, reverence, and faith. It reveals the condition of an individual heart. For where your treasure is, there your heart will also be.

Jesus’s teaching on giving goes beyond tithing to whole hearted giving and believing God for provision. Tithing is more appreciated when the condition of our heart is in line with God’s will. Let us continue to honour God with all that we are and what we have for we are not just seeking temporary blessings here but a greater reward after this life.
