Wednesday, 8th December 2021. That Jesus Christ would be a righteous sufferer
Text: Psalm 69:1-36
This Psalm pointed to the suffering of Christ (v.21). However, while the psalmist is praying that God punishes his enemies (v.28), Jesus Christ prayed for God to forgive His tormentors (Luke 23:34).
This was fulfilled at Golgotha when Jesus Christ was offered wine mixed with gall for Him to drink (Mat.27:33-34). This was to mock Jesus Christ as the gall made the wine undrinkable. Much as it is thought that such a drink would act as a pain killer, there was nothing compassionate about their gestures towards Jesus Christ.
Meditate on Psalm 69:14. How are you going to respond to it?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, deliver me from evil. Amen.
