Text: 2 Kings 2:1-14.
‘And Elisha saw it and he cried, “My father, my father! The chariots of Israel and its horsemen!” And he saw him no more,…’ verse 12 (ESV).
Elisha used the title father, father as a sign of respect for Elijah who had higher authority in the ministry. We need to respect our elders or superiors in the ministry both: ordained and none ordained. We need to pray, support and encourage them.
Reflect on verse 12, what is God teaching you in this verse?
Father, thank You for the elders You have given us in the Church.
Give them good counsel to help and encourage those they lead. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.
