Text: Jeremiah 22: 11-30
Josiah was a godly King; however, his sons were evil and never followed in the footsteps of their father. They all lost the Kingship and were taken captive to foreign lands. Jehoiachin, like his brother Jehoahaz, did evil in the eyes of the Lord (vv.18- 19). He wickedly taxed people (2 Kings 22:35) and made them build his palace with no pay, thereby violating God’s Law (Lev. 19:13; Deut. 24:14-15). He was killed in Babylon and his body was never buried.

The sins of Jehoiachin made God vow that even if he was God’s signet ring, an extremely important item as it was used to authenticate important items, He would throw it away (v. 24). Sin makes you useless before God. However, God is patient with you to repent and turn to Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Meditate on verse 24. What is God teaching you in this verse?
My Lord and heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray that You forgive and wash me clean with the blood of Jesus Christ. Father, keep me always in Your presence as a faithful and obedient servant in Your Kingdom. Amen.
