Text: Haggai 2:1-23
The people who had seen the former Temple of Solomon and compared it with what they were rebuilding, they got discouraged. The present Temple looked inferior to the former. However, God encouraged them to continue the work for He was with them (v.3-4). God promised the people that the glory of this new Temple will be greater than the former (v.9). The greater glory is realised in Christ in whom God’s presence and glory is manifested (Mal. 3:1; John 1:14).
The new Temple is the church of Christ whose glory comes from Christ (Eph. 2:21; 3:20-21). As people repented and obeyed, God promised to bless them (v.19). God’s mercy triumphed over judgement. God is willing and eager to bless you, your responsibility is to repent, trust and obey in the name of Jesus Christ our Saviour and Lord.
Meditate on verse 4. How are you going to apply it to your life?
My heavenly Father, the Lord of heaven and earth, strengthen me and give
me victory over my enemies. In the name of Jesus I have prayed. Amen.
