Text: Isaiah 34:1-17
God is angry with all the nations and therefore all must take heed (v.1). They are all against God and His plans and purposes. The Lord has planned a day for vengeance (v.8) much as He has been patient, and bearing with us for a long time. He is determined to act and punish the nations for rebelling against Him.
Various animals and birds will show up in numbers depicting a reduction in the human race after God’s judgement (vv. 11-15).
We must humble ourselves and repent otherwise the iniquity we are living in will not go unpunished. However, God is gracious and is willing to forgive only when we repent through the name of Jesus Christ, His beloved Son.
Meditate on verse 1. What is God teaching you in this verse? How are you going to respond to it?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we repent as a nation, for all the evil we have done: stealing, killing and idolatry among others. In Your judgement have mercy on us. Amen.
