Text: Ezekiel 26: 1-21
The LORD, Yahweh (“Yahweh” is the personal covenantal name of God), is the Creator of all nations, and He has every right to bring curses on all nations, because all humanity is rebellious against Him. Tyre is inside the northern-most tribe of Asher, on the coast, but apparently it was never occupied by Israel, as it should have been.

Tyre also had islands. The main city thought it was safe on one of the islands, about 1km off-shore; but Alexander the Great actually built a walk-way, from the shore to the off-shore Capital, for his army. Tyre rejoiced when Jerusalem was destroyed (v.2), so Yahweh destroyed Tyre. Mocking God’s people mocks God.

Whether by trials or temptations, many will try to destroy Christ’s Church. In Rev.2:20, when “Jezebel” brought destructive teachings and seductions into Thyatira, Jesus promised to destroy her. Jesus told a parable of a King who slaughtered those who opposed Him (Luk.19:27). According to God’s plan, redemption is accomplished inside of conflict. However, God’s people can never be destroyed, but any attacker will be (or converted, Acts.9).

Meditate on verse 2. What is God warning you concerning the suffering of your enemies.

My Lord and heavenly Father, I thank You and glorify Your Holy name. Forgive me for instances in which I have wished ill for my enemies or whenever I have rejoiced over their suffering. Amen.
