Text: Luke 6:1-19
When Jesus was accused of breaking the Sabbath, to the accusers, He referred the accuser to a story of King David (1 Sam. 21:1-6) when together with his men ate the sacred bread in the temple (vv. 3-5). This was a story that was well known to them and therefore if they were to condemn Jesus then they should condemn David too.

Jesus brought the principle that human need is more important to satisfy than just observing man made regulations and rules. Jesus told them that, “The Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath (v. 5, NKJV), meaning that He had the authority to overrule the tradition and rules of the Pharisees because it was Him who had created the Sabbath. The Creator will always be greater than the creation.
Before every important decision or event Jesus would take time to be alone and pray for God’s guidance (v. 12). So, as He prepared to choose the twelve disciples He spent an overnight on the mountain. This should be our practice; to seek God’s guidance and wisdom when we are about to take important decisions.

Meditate on verse 12. How are you going to apply it to your life?
Ever loving heavenly Father, I pray in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, that
You cultivate in me the spirit of prayer in order to make the right decisions in all situations. Amen.
