Text: Deuteronomy 23:1-25
In this passage one might be disturbed that God did not allow certain persons to be a part of His nation (vv.1-3). As you read the Scriptures before Christ, you should have in mind that it was a small picture of the eternal Kingdom of Christ.
God is perfectly pure, and no one who is impure can be with Him. That is why Adam was sent away from God’s blessed fellowship.
At the same time, remember that God’s people always included non-Jews: Rahab from Jericho, Ruth from Moab, and many others. And after Jesus’ resurrection, His Church includes persons all over the world, from every tribe, language, nation, and people. All believers equally are members of Christ’s body.
Meditate on verses 1 – 3. What is God teaching you these verses?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, thank You for choosing me to be one of Your children, part of Your chosen nation. Amen.
