Text: 1 Kings 21:1-29
Naboth had a vineyard next to one of King Ahab’s palaces, and Ahab wanted it.
He offered to buy it, but Naboth refused, as it was his family’s inheritance from Yahweh (v.3). Wicked Queen Jezebel saw the sadness of her husband and made plans to have Naboth murdered, and Ahab approved of this wicked plan. This is not how the Kingdom of God is to be built. Afterward, Yahweh sent a prophet to rebuke Ahab, promising disaster. Surprisingly, the wicked King humbled himself before God in sorrow (vv.27-29), so God postponed the disaster.

A King should not serve his own desires but should serve his people; he should give his life for their well-being. Our King Jesus is building the Kingdom of God, and He serves His people perfectly. Whatever you have, or do not have, is because of His good purpose for you and for the advancement of His Kingdom.

Ultimately, Jesus died to pay your sin penalty so that you could have an eternal blessed inheritance with Him. As servants of Christ, we must also give ourselves in service to others (Lev.19:18; Mat.23:11; Phil.2:2).

Meditate on verses 27-29. How are you going to apply them to your life?
Heavenly Father, forgive us as a nation for the sins we have committed, especially those at the behest of our leaders. In the name of Jesus Christ we
have prayed.
