Text: 2 Chronicles 19:1-11

After the failed battle, King Jehoshaphat returned home safely. But because of his foolish alliance with Ahab, Yahweh sent a prophet to rebuke the King. Jehoshaphat’s good nature (a gift from God) is seen by his quick obedience. The King went around the country bringing his people back to Yahweh. He then put in place judges in the land who would rule with faithfulness from the heart to Yahweh (v.9).

When our King Jesus sends one of His people to tell you that you’ve done something wrong, what is your response? Do you tell that person to mind his own business, or do you listen and obey? Do not be hard against instruction. It does not say good things about your heart. King Jesus never sinned, and He always submitted to His Father’s will. How much more should we submit and be saved?

Meditate on verse 9. How are you going to respond to it?

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, help me to always act in the fear of Your great name and be faithful to You with a loyal heart. Amen.
