Text: Ezekiel 47:1-23
This Chapter gives a quiet, but powerful, description of the waters of blessing flowing out from the Temple. The Temple is the place where God’s people meet with Him, to worship Him. Water is flowing out from the Temple, just as a trickle, then begins flowing to the east, getting deeper and deeper; first ankle deep, then knee deep, then waist deep, then it was so deep that one could not walk by, only swim. The water reached the Dead Sea (which is high concentration saltwater) and it is made fresh and lively (v.9).

This is the blessing of the Gospel, the Good Message of Jesus Christ. The blessings of Christ flow out of His heavenly Temple, then out to the world, which is spiritually dead. But when the waters of Christ’s grace reach His people, He brings them to life by His grace. Maybe you can swim, maybe not; but we all need to plunge into this river, and we need to bring others with us. Everything will live where the river goes (v.9b). That river will be there for us eternally (Rev.22:1-2).

Meditate on verses 8-9. What is God teaching you in these verses?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray that You pour out Your heavenly blessings on Your children, those that have accepted Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord. I pray that I will be a source of encouragement to many who are desperate and hopeless. Amen.
