Text: Psalm 82:1-8

This Psalm, like Psalms 2 and 58, concentrates on injustices of tyrants. These are leaders who are misusing God’s delegated authority. The Psalmist prays that God Himself may take charge of the affairs of this world (v. 8). The Bible calls these leaders “gods” because they are commissioned by God, delegated and appointed by Him as custodians of public peace (v. 6). They are called “… children of the Most High”, (v. 6) because they were created by God for noble life. The reality of this situation happens when one receives and believes in Jesus Christ. Those who hold public offices, including judicial offices need to
take heed and exercise their responsibility with integrity.

Meditate on verse 6. How are you going to apply it to your life?

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray for those who hold positions of responsibility in this country to repent and serve Your people with integrity.
I pray that Your people will get justice. Amen.
