Text: Ezekiel 12:1-28
“And I will spread my net over him, and he shall be taken in my snare. And I will bring him to Babylon, the land of the Chaldeans, yet he shall not see it, and he shall die there” (verse 13, ESV). This text is the direct prophecy of the Exile in Babylon. Ezekiel is told to pack his bags, as a symbol of the exile that is soon to come. But this is the result of a failed leadership. God so judged His people that the top leaders who should have had the wisdom to prepare for battle failed to understand things as they really were.

For us today, it is a sad day when we are forced to shift, especially when we know it is the consequences of sin. When the Church fails in its mission; when there is no wise counsel in leaders to be found; the sheep scatter. It is a painful thing to be forced from home or ministry, and often the reasons for this are not clear. When we, as leaders, fail to see the reality of what is happening all around us, our followers suffer for our foolishness. Please remember to pray for your leaders daily, that they may not fall into the trap of Satan, as all the final Kings of Judah, the priests and false prophets did.

Meditate on verse 13. What is God telling you in this verse? How are you going to respond to it?
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray for our state and church leaders to be Your watchful and bold servants in order to confront evil that is in our land and Your church. Amen.
