Text: Ephesians 6:1-4.
“Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord,” verse 4. ESV. By referring to “fathers” this verse points to those in authority over these children to disciple and help them grow well and not to exasperate them into anger and discouragement. A child who grows in a love environment will also love others. To discipline a child means to shape the will of your child through training and to instruct is to shape the mind through teaching.
The aim of all these is to leave a legacy that honors God.
Reflect on verse 4, what is God teaching you in this verse, and how are you going to apply it to your life?
Father, I pray that parents will know that they exist for children. I pray for peace and harmony in families. I pray for fathers to take up the responsibility of disciplining and training their children. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.
