Text: Jonah 4:6-11
God arranged for a leafy plant to cover Jonah’s head from the sun (v.6). The
plant is not identified but most likely it was castor oil shrub, which grows
rapidly especially in hot climates. The same God arranged for a worm that
damaged the plant (v.7). Jonah is angered over the withering of the plant, but not with himself over what he desired to happen to Nineveh (v.9). Many of us feel heartbroken over things like a burnt house or shop or death of an animal; but may remain indifferent over the death of unsaved person. Let us cry to the Lord that people will receive Christ and be saved from hell.
Meditate on verse 11. How are you going to apply it to your life?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, give me the zeal and encouragement to
share Your Word with many people before they perish. Amen.
