Text: Zechariah 6:1-15.
This is the final vision. These four chariots and different colored horses go
out to the world to wage war. The north symbolizing Babylon, and the south
Egypt. Both represent the enemies of God’s people, and the enemies will
be destroyed. Interestingly, High Priest Joshua is crowned King, but in Israel
priests could not be kings. Only a descendant of Aaron is a priest, and only a
descendant of David is king. What is God telling us? The answer is – something new and perfect!
Jesus Christ (the Branch, v.12) is our eternal High Priest, King, and Prophet. Jesus sits enthroned, ruling as King; as our High Priest Jesus is seated at the Father’s right hand, bringing His own sacrificed blood, interceding and mediating; and He gives to us His prophetic Word by the work of the Holy Spirit through His ministers. All three offices are accomplished by One righteous Person. We who are united to Christ are a blessed people indeed!
Meditate on verse 15. How are you going to respond to it?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, help me understand Your Word. Enable
me to trust and obey You. Amen.
