Text: 1 Kings 7:1-51
King Solomon knew of a man named Huram, who was “filled with wisdom and understanding and skill” as a bronze craftsman. He was like Bezalel, the man who directed the work of Moses’ tabernacle. Bezalel was “filled with the Spirit … in wisdom … in craftsmanship” (Ex.31:2). Worship of God, and the building of the temple, was not to be a quick, casual, ordinary job. Worship requires full strength, and God should receive only the best.
King Jesus is building His temple, but not with stone, wood, and gold. Jesus is building His people into His eternal temple. The Holy Spirit is the wise craftsman who is expertly fashioning us into a habitation for God (Eph.2:20-22), giving each of us gifts for the good of the Church (Rom.12:6-8), and making us more and more into the image of Christ (Rom.8:29).

Meditate on verse 1. Why do you think it took Solomon almost twice the period to build his house compared to what it took to build the temple?

My heavenly Father, help me to always prepare well as I worship You. Help me to regularly have quality time with You. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen .
