Text: Acts 8:1-40.
Jewish leaders were hoping to destroy the new “sect”, but persecution and the murder of Stephen actually caused the Church increase (vv.1-4). As the disciples are scattered abroad, they preach the gospel, the good message of salvation in Jesus Christ. In this chapter we see a special focus on Philip, one of the seven Deacons, who is also an evangelist (Acts 21:8). Philip goes to the region of Samaria (people who are hated by Jews) and has a successful ministry among them. Later in this chapter he will teach about Jesus to an Ethiopian government official. The officer will believe and be baptised and take the message of Jesus into the continent of Africa.

Meditate on verses 1-4. What is God teaching you in this verse?

My heavenly Father, in the midst of challenges, let Your Word be preached to all nations. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.
