Text: Proverbs 14:1-35
As we have already considered, it was Adam’s disobedience to God that brought sin into human existence, including laziness. Human beings, created in the image of God, are designed to work hard. God’s work is non-stop and perfect. So, when we work hard, we are acting as image-bearers of God.
It is very easy to talk, and much more difficult to work. A lazy person would rather talk about a job than actually getting down to it. Much can be said and many plans can be made about anything. But if nothing is done, then poverty is the result. There is no guarantee that a hard-working person will become wealthy. But through diligent work, God will provide what is needed. However, the lazy person is guaranteed to profit nothing. When a person works hard, he is reflecting something of the image of God. When a believer works hard, with a heart for God, that work is worshipful.
Meditate on verse 23. How are you going to apply it to your life?
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, give me a positive attitude towards hard work and enable me to toil all day long! Amen.
