Text: Judges 21:1-25
After slaughtering the soldiers of Benjamin, the Israelites also decided not to give their daughters to them for wives. But the battle is now ended, and as they think about the fighting and the vows, they realise that a tribe in Israel is greatly reduced. So, what could be done for them? Kill the men of another tribe, and take their virgins as wives for Benjamin (v.12), and then encourage Benjamin to take by force other virgins from Shiloh (v.21). The nation of Israel is not doing well, at all.

Israel is so clearly wandering further away from Yahweh, and it is so sad to read. But if you examine your own heart honestly, it is not devoid of wickedness and the wickedness is greater than what we read about in the Book of Judges. We all are in desperate need of a Saviour, and Jesus is the only one. He accomplished perfect righteousness for us, and by His grace we are His nation, His bride. Let us love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love one another fervently, from the heart, as we ourselves want to be loved. We are not like Israel, as told in v.25. We have a King, Jesus, who gave Himself for us. Let us live for Him by doing what is right in His eyes. Amen.

Meditate on verse 2. How are you going to apply it to your life?
Faithful and ever loving Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, deliver our nation from the evil that she has sunk into. Cleanse the people by the inspiration of Your Spirit and heal our land. Amen.
