Text: Judges 14:5-20
Samson went to marry the woman, then at the banquet he presented a riddle to the Philistine men attending him. The Philistines threatened to kill the woman and her family if she did not get the answer from Samson, which she eventually got from him. So, Samson was required to provide 30 sets of clothing for the men. Samson went to the Philistine town of Ashkelon, killed 30 of their men, and took their clothes. This was the plan of God (v.4). Although the marriage went ahead, the girl Samson had sought was taken by another man (v.20).

Our Strong Champion, Jesus Christ, also played a mighty trick on the great deceiver, Satan. Satan thought he was victorious when he got Jesus killed on the cross. But Christ’s death is exactly how God was going to destroy the work of Satan. When Jesus died, He paid the penalty for the sins of His people and delivered us from bondage to Satan. Satan was tricked into defeat by his own schemes! Hallelluia! Amen!

Meditate on verse 20. What is God teaching you in this verse?
Our Father and God of Peace, I pray that You fill me with the riches of Your glory and enable me to forgive all those who have cheated me in the past. I also pray that You forgive me for the many times I have cheated others. In the name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, I have prayed. Amen
