Text: 2 Chronicles 18:27-34

The reading today is the same as yesterday, but there is something else to be said. In today’s chapter, Jehoshaphat was uniting with Ahab, who was an Israelite, but who abandoned Yahweh. Such alliances are despised by Yahweh (see also 20:37). As a result, the united army is defeated.

There is a lot of effort by some churches to have close alliances with Christian Churches who are not obeying Scripture. For example, some churches allow professing homosexuals to be ordained, or they do not believe the resurrection of Christ is possible, or they teach that God accepts all religions, etc. Such alliances must not be allowed. We can love those people and help them get away from their sin. But the sin must not be approved and incorporated into the Church. The Lord will not bless such alliances. King Jesus must be honored, and alliances with sin dishonor Him.

Meditate on verse 27. What is God teaching you in this verse?

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, help me to be strong even in the midst of those who are opposing Your truth. Amen.
