Text: Romans 3:1-31.
“Their throat is an open tomb; with their tongues they have practiced deceit…”, verse 13 [NKJV]. When a tomb is open you smell what is inside, a bad smell. The same thing is with a man’s heart which is not saved or a carnal Christian, it harbours foul intent and desires. Foul words point to a decaying or decayed heart.
Today words that incite the public or put down some people are common place. The question is, are you part of this? Is your mouth an open tomb that produces bad smell to the public? Let your words give hope to the people around you. This will happen only when Jesus Christ is on the throne of your heart. It is only Christ who gives genuine hope. God set Jesus Christ as a propitiation, (appeasing or satisfaction), meaning that Christ’s violent death on the cross satisfied God’s wrath and judgement
intended against those that Jesus Christ eventually died to save.
Meditate on verse 13. What lesson do you get from this verse? Any sin to repent of?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, help control my tongue. Let my tongue be an instrument that gives hope in Christ Jesus. Amen.
