Text: 1 Chronicles 14:1-17
The chapter opens with David having a house built for him. David then took more wives for himself. Though the fact is stated that David took several wives, it does not mean that such a thing pleased God. At creation, Yahweh created marriage as one man and one woman, and that is His eternal design. We also read in this chapter of God giving victories to David in battle.
King Jesus is building His Kingdom by the blessing of His Father. Yahweh, God the Father says to His eternal Son, “…Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.” (Psalm110:1, ESV). The battle continues, and He daily crushes some enemies and makes others to become His children. And we have here the great example of monogamy. Jesus has only one wife, the Church. He gives His covenant love to no one else. You are loved with a perfect, faithful, eternal love by your Husband, King Jesus.
Meditate on verse 2. What is God teaching you in this verse?
Father, may You always remind me that You saved me for a purpose of multiplying Your Kingdom in the hearts of men by witnessing for Your glory.
In the name of Jesus Christ I have prayed. Amen.
