Text: Jeremiah 42:1-22
The remnants in Judah with their leaders came to Jeremiah seeking to know God’s will for them as they pledged this time to obey the way of the Lord (v.6).
After ten days Jeremiah tells them the will of God to remain in the land under God’s protection (v.10), and not to go to Egypt where they would be exposed to pagan worship (vv.13-19). Unfortunately the people were hypocrites; they already desired to be in Egypt (v.20).
Many times you pray and pledge to God and when opportunity shows up you fail to honour your pledge. You enquire of God’s will and when it is told, you continue to do your own premeditated evil ways. Repent in the name of Jesus Christ and remain in the will of God.
Meditate on verse 11. What is God promising you in this verse?
Father, thank You for encouraging me not to fear my enemies. Thank You for Your presence with me all the time. Amen.
