Text: 1 Chronicles 9:1-44
The chapter begins with the a very quick and simple (but serious) statement that the Kingdom of Judah went into exile because of their sin. But verse 2 immediately jumps ahead seventy years to the return. In this chapter there is a big focus on those of Levi, those who serve at the Temple. When the people are returned from exile, God’s first concern is the re-establishment of worship.
That is God’s original reason for creating humanity and why He created the
nation of Israel.
When Adam sinned, he was exiled from God, and so was all humanity. For those who belong to God’s grace, from any time in history, Jesus Christ took our exile when He was nailed to the cross. When He was raised, we were returned to God by our union with Christ. Jesus then began gathering His people to Himself, every day. He is building for His Father a nation that will worship Him.
Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God (1 Cor.10:31).
Meditate on verse 1. What is God teaching you in this verse? How are you
going to respond to it?
Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ, keep me close that I may not
drift away from You. Amen.
