Text: Genesis 3:1-13
When Satan enters the garden, he goes to Eve first to tempt her, and not to Adam, who bears the authority. Satan knows that tempting Adam was best done through his wife. Adam was present, he heard the conversation between
Eve and the serpent, and he did nothing. Adam failed to perform his duty of protecting the garden from evil. Also, when Eve heard the smooth words of Satan, she did not give a proper explanation of God’s command. She also
added words to God’s command, “… neither shall you touch it…” (v.3, ESV).
Of course the tree could be touched while being tended to, but eating its fruit was forbidden. Eve also did not mention how gracious God was in giving them everything else.
Doing the work that God provides for you, and doing it the way He commands, is the only proper way to work. When Jesus Christ accomplished His earthly ministry, He did it exactly as the Father desired, which is why we are accepted
by God. That is how it should be in our own daily jobs and tasks. Whatever our job is, it has been given by God, and we must do it properly and glorify Him in it. Our knowledge and skills are given by God. Let us perform our jobs with integrity, which is how our work can be done as worship.
Meditate on verse 3. What is God teaching you in this verse?
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, help me obey the leading of the Holy Spirit always. Amen.
