Text: Ezekiel 6:1-14
“And they shall know that I am the LORD. I have not said in vain that I would do this evil to them” (verse 10, ESV). I cannot prophecy or predict what the consequences will be for your sin or my sin. I only know that when we offend our loving Heavenly Father, He will find the perfect way to teach us what is real and what is holy. In this context we see graphic pictures of death and destruction for the sin of idolatry. The purpose of this horrific and painful judgement is the clear and direct teaching method of God’s People: “You will Know Who Yahweh is!” “I am not just any divine being, I am the only and the true God who is yours!”

We normally devise ways to run away from our sin and try to forget what our conscience has been saying all along:”Repent!” Our Father is using that Holy Spirit guided voice inside our soul to remind us of our personal and intimate connection with our Creator. He refuses to let us go and walk away. He will use any and all circumstances to get our attention and have us turn away from that which distracts our faith.

Meditate on verse 10. What is God telling you in this verse? How are you going to respond to it?
Almighty and merciful Father, we pray that You forgive us all our sins. In Your righteous judgement, have mercy on us. In the name of our Saviour our Lord, Jesus Christ, we have prayed. Amen.
