Text: 1 Samuel 3:1-21

Samuel was now ministering under the authority of Eli, the High Priest. In the course of the night, God spoke to Samuel so that he would speak to Eli. The message was sad: Eli, his family, and his descendants would be punished forever because of blasphemy by his sons. There is no doubt that Eli loved Yahweh, but it was not enough to cause him to turn his sons away from their wickedness toward God.

We all are in desperate need of a righteous High Pries, a Saviour. And Jesus is the Perfect One. Jesus is also our Shepherd, our Brother, our friend, our Master, etc. His love for us is eternally perfect. Therefore, He will not let us be lost in sin. Jesus will change us to grow into being like Himself. The change may be slow and / or painful at times, but we will be transformed from being enemies of God into people who love Him with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind, One day, that love will be perfect! Amen !

Meditate on verse 13. What is God teaching you in this verse?

Merciful Father, Your judgements are true; we who yearn to serve You are imperfect; I pray for Your mercy as You exercise righteous judgement over me and our nation at large. In the name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, I have prayed. Amen.
