Text: Ezekiel 27:1-36
In this chapter of lamentation (sorrow), God is grieving over the destruction of Tyre, which was a just judgment against their wickedness. But, God takes no pleasure in the destruction of wicked persons. God would rather have a wicked person repent and live (Ezek.18:23; Lk.15:7, 10). Everything is God’s creation, including Tyre, and He even loves His enemies (Mat.5:44-45). For sure God loves righteousness and justice, but it still grieves Him that they will not serve Him.

Jesus entered our world, which is hostile toward Him, for the purpose of accomplishing our redemption. As Jesus grieved over Jerusalem because of their unrepentant ways, but destruction was promised (Mat.23:37-38). So must we be toward those who are wicked, who hate the Church, or despise us personally because of our faith. We must grieve for them because of what is coming upon them. We must love them. Let us never be joyful about anyone who is outside salvation. Let us speak to them about Christ and pray for their repentance.

Meditate on verses 1-2. What items or blessings from God that have made you feel proud?
Repent.
Merciful and everlasting heavenly Father, I acknowledge that You desire that no sinner should die without repenting. I pray that You place on me a spiritual burden for those who do not know You, that they may know You and live. In the name of Jesus Christ I have prayed. Amen.
