Text: Judges 16:4-31
Samson fell in love with another woman, Delilah. Philistine lords offered her lots of money to sustain her to the end, so she could seduce Samson to reveal to her the source of his strength and let them know. Three times she asked; each time he told her a lie; and each time she called up his enemies. Surely, he could see what she was doing! Why did Samson not just stop? Love, lust, a game, what? Whatever the reason, the fourth time he told the truth (v.17). He was defeated, blinded, and enslaved.

Satan came to Jesus with many temptations, including outright deception.
But he could not succeed. Jesus’s great love was His Father and doing the Father’s will. Jesus also loves His people, and He knew what He had to do to secure their salvation. Many temptations will come your way, and they will be very inviting. At that time, pray for grace to turn your heart to the Lord. You will never regret doing it. Stay close to Jesus in love and obedience. Finish your life well for the glory of God.

Meditate on verse 18. What is God teaching you in this verse?
Merciful and loving Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray that You plant in me a heart that eschews evil and never fraternizes with sin.
Amen.
