Text: 1 Samuel 24:1-22
King Saul continued to hunt David down; this drove David deeper into the hills of the wilderness. David and his men were hiding in a cave; Saul entered the same cave to relieve himself and David could have killed him, as his men had encouraged him to do so. But he declined, because God had anointed Saul as King. David chose to wait upon God (Rom.12:19). Instead, David quietly cut off a small piece of the King’s garment, and David still felt guilty! When the King left, David shouted to him about what had just happened. Saul was ashamed and wept.

On one occasion, after Jesus ministered among the people, they tried to make him king by force (John 6:15). Jesus escaped from them. He knew the kingship was His, but He would not take it, nor have people force it upon Him. He waited upon His Father’s timing and provision. We also must wait upon God’s provision in our lives (Phil.4:11-12, 19). God has plans for you also (Jer.29:11). Do not force anything, do not be forced. Wait upon God.

Meditate on verse 7. How are you going to apply it to your self?
Heavenly Father and God of Peace, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray that You enable me to guide my children well so as not to revenge their enemies; but leave it for You to do as per Your Word as it says that all
vengeance is Yours, my Saviour and Lord. Amen.
