Text: Isaiah 7:1-25
King Ahaz of Judah was gripped by great fear emanating from the invasion from his enemies. The Lord sent Prophet Isaiah to calm him, but he would not believe. So, Ahaz is told to ask for a sign to show that, indeed, the Lord will rescue him. Much as Ahaz was an evil King, he did not want to put God to a test (vv, 1-9). Then, God Himself decided to give Ahaz a sign: “…Behold the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel” (v.14). “Immanuel”, means “God with us.”
Isaiah was prophesying that God will redeem His people, redeeming
them from sin.
The prophecy was fulfilled when Jesus was born to a Virgin, Mary, in Bethlehem (Mat.1:21-24). The meaning of “Jesus” is “Yahweh is salvation.” Indeed Jesus Christ, the Messiah came to save His people.
Receive and believe in Him, you will be saved.
Meditate on Matt. 1:19. What is God teaching you from this verse?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, let men respect and honour their spouses. Amen.
