Text: Psalm 90:1-17

In this Psalm, Moses is praying for God to have mercy on frail human beings occupying this sinful universe. Moses maintains that God is eternal (v.2).

Moses most likely wrote this Psalm when the older generation of the Israelites who had left Egypt was dying off in the wilderness (Numbers 14). Despite the frailty of man in this sin-cursed universe, Moses prays to God that, “…let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us, And establish the work of our hands for us; Yes, establish the work of our hands,” verse 17-NKJV. Here the “Lord’s beauty” means His delight, favour and approval. By establishing the “work of our hands”, means our lives to have significant meaning and value (cf 1Cor.15:58). Your life will have significance, meaning and value only in Jesus Christ.

Meditate on verse 17. How are you going to apply it to your life?

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, let Your beauty shine upon us and establish the work of our hands for us. Amen.
