Text: Ezekiel 48:1-35
This is the last Chapter and the last meditation in the Book of Ezekiel. It seems rather boring, dividing the land among the people of Israel; but it is very important. At the time Ezekiel writes this, the people are in exile. They have no land. This passage is a promise that God’s people will return and settle again, and they will be gathered around the Temple, and the new name of the city will be, “Yahweh Is There” (v.35).

The people will no longer be abandoned. God and His people will be reconciled.

This is a picture of what awaits us in the future. We will be with the Lord forever in our eternal home. Though we do not know the details, worship will be the primary activity. Everything we do will be done from love for God. The name of the eternal city, and of those who belong there will be, Yahweh is there; not the symbol, but the reality. We will be with God forever. Amen!

Meditate on verse 35. What is God teaching you in this verse? What is the promise to the people in exile?
Our heavenly and benevolent Father, we pray that we will be in Your presence forever. May You, Lord our Father, forgive us and heal our land and dwell among us. In the name of Jesus Christ I have prayed. Amen.
