Text: 1 Kings 15:1-34
Abijam, Solomon’s grandson, becomes the second King of Judah. He did evil in the eyes of Yahweh, and reigned only three years. But let us note that God will continue the lineage of David, as He promised. Then Abijam’s son, Asa, becomes Judah’s third King, the first good king of Judah. He removed most of the false worship in Judah. Asa was not perfect (2 Chr.16), but he loved and served Yahweh all his life. In the nation of Israel, Nadab is the second King, and he does what is evil before Yahweh. Please note that all the kings of Israel (the northern ten tribes) are evil.
Asa’s work of restoring true worship in Judah is pleasing to God. It is much like what we read about King Jesus did in John 2:13-17, where the Lord cleared out all the corruption in the temple (Mat.21:12-13). Humanity is created to worship God, and the main point of salvation is to restore true worship. God is eternally wonderful and worthy of praise. In all you do, however, small you
think it is, do it to glorify God. Worship is not only what we do on Sunday with the people of God. Worship is every moment of every day (1 Cor.5:31).
Meditate on verse 11. How are you going to apply it to your life?
Heavenly Father, help me serve You with the integrity of heart while praying for restoration of Your Church here on earth. In the name of Jesus Christ I have prayed. Amen.
