Text: Psalm 83:1-18

This is a national Psalm lamentation but carries both prayer and imprecations – curses. In fact it is one of imprecatory Psalms in the Bible. In prayer to frustrate the evil plans of the enemy, the Psalmist reminded God of the past victories over their enemies (v.9) Gideon had defeated the Midianites (Judges 7: 19-25), Deborah and Barak had defeated Jabin and the commander of his army, Sisera, near the Brook Kishon (Judges 4, 5). As you pray tell God of His ever present faithfulness. God was faithful in the past, He is faithful today and ever shall He be. Let the past testimonies encourage us to trust God for the present troubles! In Christ we are more than conquerors! (Rom.8:37).

Meditate on verse 9. How are you going to apply it to your life?

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, thank You for the many battles You have won for me. I pray and trust that You will give me victory even in the situation that I am in now. Amen.
