Text: Jeremiah 40:1-16
It is interesting to note that Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard recognized that the living God gave victory to them against the children of God and could not believe in this very God (vv.2-3). It is one thing to know God and another to know about God. Nebuzaradan knew about God.
When Jeremiah was requested to make a choice where to stay; in Babylon,
where he would be favoured especially by the Babylonians but hated by the exiles, or in Judah? In Babylon, he would be powerful with a lot of influence.

In Judah, he would continue to suffer, poor, unwanted and treated as a traitor.
Jeremiah chose to stay in Judah (vv.4-6). Jeremiah was not looking for comfort, but to serve the will of God. Jesus Christ never came to look for comfort, but to serve and fulfill the will of God (Mat. 20:28). Accept Him to be your Saviour and Lord.

Meditate on verse 3. How are you going to apply it to your life?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, help me hear and apply Your Word in my life. Amen.
