Text: Ezekiel 37:1-28
Prophet Ezekiel was given a vision of a valley full of bones, very dry bones. The bones represented the nation of Israel, physically exiled into Babylon for 70 years, spiritually dead, with no possibility of getting themselves back. The people have been physically removed from Judah, and the city of Jerusalem and the Temple have been destroyed. Israel is finished. But by this vision Yahweh is showing His people that He will bring them back – physically someday, but especially with new spiritual life, returned to Himself.

This vision was first fulfilled when the people of Judah began returning to Jerusalem in 536 BC. But that was just a picture of the eternal fulfillment that began with Jesus Christ coming back to life from the dead. Because of Christ’s life, death, and resurrection, those who belong to God’s grace are given new and eternal life. You were dead spiritually, but God gave you life, in Christ, and reconciled you to Himself.
Meditate on verse 10. What is God teaching you in this verse? Considering where God picked you, how do you compare with these dry bones?

Merciful Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I thank You that Your people are never finished. Thank You for forgiving me all my sins, I was dead in my sins and You gave me eternal life. Amen.
