TEXT: JOSHUA 24:1-33
Joshua challenged the children of Israel to choose who to serve; the Living God of the Bible or the gods of their fathers and gods of Amorites in whose land they were dwelling (v.15). After rejecting the true God, it is now an irony that the children of Israel are being asked to make a choice over two different false gods; either the ancestral gods of Mesopotamia or the gods of Amorites they conquered in Canaan. The choice was important because God of the Bible is a jealous God; He will not share His worship with others or creatures.
A family should stand firm to serve the Living God, despite the consequences of such a decision, (Mat.10:38). As the head of the family let the family members see your commitment to serve God.
Meditate on verse 15. How are you going to apply it to your life?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I choose to serve and worship only You. Help me to fulfill my commitment. Amen.
