Text: Deuteronomy 34:1-12
Moses led the people of Israel for forty (40) years and his life is now finished (vv.1-5). Because of his sin (Numb.20:10-13) Moses was not permitted to bring the people into the Promised Land. But God is not restricted. He had been preparing Joshua for that task. The people were not sure of Joshua, so God would make the people trust Joshua the same way they trusted Moses (Jos.3:7; 4:14).
We who belong to Christ are moving through the wilderness of this present existence on our way to the Promised eternal life with God. But we do not need to fear that we will not be brought in, brought to the edge then abandoned, or entrusted into the care of someone unknown to us. Jesus Christ led a sinless life, He conquered death, and He has already gone ahead and prepared a place
for us (John14:2-3). He cannot fail to bring us to Himself, and we will glorify His name forever (Isa.45:23; Rom.14:11).
