Text: Genesis 3:1-24.
When Adam sinned, God pronounced curses, first against the tempter, then against Eve, and lastly against Adam. To the serpent God promised that a “seed” (descendent) of the woman would bruise (or crush) the head of Satan.
In other words, someday a man would come and destroy the works of the devil and reverse the curse brought about by Adam’s sinning. That man is Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God. When Jesus died on the cross, he was paying the death penalty for all His people, which brought an end to Satan’s work and brought reconciliation with God. Though Satan is still active in the world, so is God the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is doing His work of uniting people to Christ, making them to be like Christ, and bringing them into Christ’s eternal rest.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray for the forgiveness of the sins I have committed. Cleanse me with the blood of Jesus Christ. Amen
