Text: 1 Samuel 27:1-12
By the end of Chapter 26, it seemed that King Saul would leave David in peace.
But David knew his life was still in danger. So he dwelt among the enemy (they thought the people of Israel hated David, v.12). David pretended to serve the Philistines, pretended to attack Israel, but he and his men actually raided other nations that were enemies of Israel.

What do we learn from David hiding and his secret missions? Did Jesus behave this way? Yes, at times He did. In Matthew 4:12, when Jesus learned that John the Baptist had been arrested, He went into Galilee, in the north, where many of the people were a despised race of Jews and gentiles inter-married, and the religious authorities would not follow Him there (see also Matt.12:14-15). But when the time was right, He returned to Judea and Jerusalem. Even in your own Christian life, as Jesus said, “When they persecute you in this city, flee to another…” (Matt.10:23, NKJV). In all circumstances, be as wise as a fox in your dealings with unbelievers.

Meditate on verse 11. What is God teaching you in this verse?
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray that You give me a discerning mind and wisdom on how to deal with difficult situations. Amen.
