Isaiah 49:1-26
In this chapter we see the prophecy calling the whole world as he addresses the “…Coast lands… people from afar…” to know that the Messiah will be a human being from a virgin birth (cf 7:14), Luke 1:30-33) and will be categorised as an individual rather than personified group, for example, the nation of Israel. This chapter teaches us several things; Christ, under the symbol of Isaiah, is attached to His office as the Messiah (vv. 1-3). Secondly we see the Messiah being assured of victories in the Gentile World (vv. 4-8).

Thirdly the rescue operation that He will undertake and achieve (vv. 9-12). Fourthly the afflicted church will be affirmed by the successful operations to redeem it (vv. 13-17). Fifthly that there will be an increase of believers and the church will be established in Gentile communities (vv. 18-23).

Meditate on verses 18-23. What is God teaching you in these verses?
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray that the waste and desolate places will be redeemed and be filled with Your blessings. Amen.
